Chris and I have loved looking through the old photos of our house before we moved in, that we happened upon the other day. As we think about five years in our house, it's great to see how much we've been able to do (and think of how naive we were when we bought the house).
Earlier this week he shared some of our favorite outside before and afters. Today, I bring you the interiors!
We'll start with the main floor. Here's a view of from the living room into the dining room and office:
Closet turned water closet!
My first floor favorite - the kitchen.
How about another view? Can you believe we lived in that before kitchen for nearly three years???
And now upstairs. Here's our guest bedroom before and after.
Our bedroom.
Ivy's room (good-bye turquoise walls!).
And our most dramatic upstairs shots - the bathroom (I think this one deserves two views).
We are thinking of buying a former rental property that has been "fixed up" veeeery shabbily. You mention you were very naive when you first bought the house with projects in mind. What didn't you know back then ? Would you recommend doing what you did to others?

ReplyDeleteDoes 'better late than never' apply here? So sorry to have missed this. With any luck you all are up to your knees in renovations by now. If not I'd be happy to weigh in on your questions.
DeleteWow! I had forgotten I had written this. Turns out I got pregnant about two weeks later and so considering this, we decided not to buy a house needing a lot of renovation. Now, however, we are considering a MIL addition! Ha
DeleteIt's so inspiring to see how far you've come in five years! The transformation is incredible, especially the kitchen—it's hard to believe you lived with the old one for so long! The closet turned water closet is such a clever use of space, and Ivy’s room makeover is amazing (goodbye, turquoise!). The bathroom renovation looks stunning too, definitely a dramatic change. It's so interesting to see how your home has evolved, and I'm sure it feels so rewarding to look back at the progress. What's your next big project?
